Minutes of Previous Meeting – were read and approved. Proposed – Eddie Downes, Seconded – Alan Camsell. They were the only 2 people at this meeting who had also been present for the whole of the previous meeting.
Matters Arising – Alan Lavery will check if Conwy incurred any costs re: postponed Sixes Competition. He will also check to see if there is a free Sunday at Conwy to run the Sixes.
Bryn-y-Neuadd raised the issue of the broken window at their ground. Colin Proffitt advised them to submit an invoice for the repair and said that this will probably be reimbursed. Elaine Catherall, Treasurer, was not at the Meeting to discuss this item and the insurance implications etc.
Chair’s Report : Colin Proffitt had nothing to say other than an issue to discuss related to Agenda item 10, the St. David’s/Caerhun debate.
Secretary’s Report: Alan Camsell (Vice Chair) stood in for Darren Dentith (Secretary). He said that there was a large number of correspondence related to Agenda item 10. He also stated that Llandrillo College had written a letter of complaint re: perceived unsporting behaviour from Rhos Fynach Taverners by them not agreeing to playing at a different available venue (on the same night) when Bodlondeb was perhaps not suitable due to wet conditions. The letter was read out by Karen McIntyre (Minutes Secretary). There was some discussion from this re: the playing of matches on the same night at a different venue and rules etc.
Treasurer’s Report: Elaine Catherall was not at the Meeting and no-one was able to advise the Meeting of any financial issues.
Divisions: Alan Camsell supplied an updated standing of the 3 divisions. Llandrillo College will be relegated from Div 1, Mochdre CC will be promoted from Div 2, Robertsons will be relegated from Div 2 and Caerhun will be promoted from Div 3.
Cups: Tom Barlow Cup – Lex XI will play the winners of Caerhun v Penrhyn Arms in the Final on Monday 6th August. Robertson Cup – Mochdre CC will play the winners of Llanrwst v Mochdre Colts in the Final on Tuesday 7th August which is Presentation Night at Mochdre Cricket Club. Richard Stock has offered to Umpire on both evenings and Pete Williams will Umpire on Monday 6th and Alan Lavery will Umpire on Tuesday 7th. Colin Proffitt said that he would sort out someone to make the presentations.
Sixes Competition: Alan Lavery will check to see if Conwy ground is available on a Sunday and will put it to the Conwy Management Committee at their meeting on 2nd August that the Sixes Competition be held on an available Sunday.
Caerhun v St. David’s Debate: Colin Proffitt read out an e-mail from Darren Dentith and stated that he was unsure why his name and his status as League Chair had been mentioned in the missive as he was not involved in organising Caerhun matches. He also went on to say that he could not understand why the match was declared 0-0 as there was nothing in rules to indicate this line of action. There followed a debate on this with a number of people saying that it was 0-0 as the match could not be held as a competitive match due to the rule breaking and that the teams would just have to view it as a ‘friendly’ match. Caerhun felt that they should be reinstated their 5 points (deducted for rule breaking) on a matter of principle as they felt they were the injured parties in this matter and had been led to believe that the match was all above board. However, in order to put this matter to rest they agreed to leave things as they are and to draw a line under the whole issue. Eddie Downes stated that it does emphasise the need for every club to be represented at the Meetings so things can be fully discussed at the time. Having led to a discussion about League Rules, everyone was reminded that any suggested change of rules needs to be raised at the AGM and that Darren Dentith needs to have the proposals by 30th September.
Any Other Business –
- Alan Camsell related an incident he’d observed at a Division 3 match when a bowler had bowled a number of balls down leg side thus potentially stopping the batter from scoring. He asked the Committee whether they felt something needed to be added into the Rules about this kind of bowling. General feeling that this wasn’t needed and that it was important for each team to provide an Umpire for the matches.
- Llandrillo College invited a team to play them on Thurs 2nd August (friendly match) – Bryn Y Neuadd offered to do this.
- Mochdre CC requested a change of fixture date against Mochdre Colts (match to be brought forward 1 day). All agreed by Committee.
- Eddie Downes mentioned that Rhos Fynach had requested a change of fixture date – it was confirmed that this had been cleared.
Meeting closed at 20.01
