The meeting was opened by the Chair, Colin Proffitt.
Minutes Of Previous Meeting – were read and approved. Proposed – Eddie Downes, Seconded – Geoff Hawley.
Matters Arising – there were no matters arising.
Chair’s Report – Colin commented on how happy he was that we have good weather to start the season off. He also said how pleased he was to see his team, Caerhun, winning matches and that he himself had taken 5 wickets in their most recent game! Colin wished continued luck to all League Teams for the season.
Treasurer’s Report – In Elaine's absence Darren reported that all clubs had now paid their League Fees for the 2007 season. He had also spoken with John Huband, Cricket Development Officer, this week who had promised to look into our insurance cover as he believed we could be paying too high a premium. Darren will report back to the Committee once he has heard back from Mr Huband.
Secretary’s Report – Darren said that Secretary's were sending in their Result Cards quite well but reminded those present that teams are still required to send completed cards, even if results have been e-mailed.
No teams have contacted Darren with a fixture problem from the fixture list, other changes had been requested and changed at the previous meeting. eg Rydal Penrhos v Rhos Fynach Taverners was moved as their ground was not available (MCC match).
Darren reminded teams that Player Registrations should be in by now. He also apologised about being slow to update the league website due to his work and School Sports Association commitments.
John Hardman Sixes Competition
Eddie Downes had hoped to be able to have a list for this year's competition compiled at tonight's meeting, but this has not proved possible. As a result, any team wishing to enter MUST do so, and pay, at or before the June meeting. Geoff Hawley said that Mochdre hoped to enter a team but are due to play a fixture that day therefore they cannot commit yet, they have entered in principle. St. David’s College, Bodelwyddan-Ty Fry and Ysgol Pen Y Bryn confirmed their entry to the competition. Darren said he would try to contact Secretaries with regards to Sixes entry.
Any Other Business
- Martin Wright raised a problem about his team's (Bodelwyddan-Ty Fry) fixture with St. David’s College, due to be played in Week 4. Martin said his team would rather play than claim a win as St. David’s College mixed up the date of the game. Eddie Downes said in his opinion he wished to see teams play cricket rather than be settled by Committee. Andrew Bohana said that the error was a genuine one on his behalf and could only apologise. He suggested that St. David’s College concede the match 5-0 due to this error. The Committee agreed and stated that it is steep learning curve for new teams/secretaries.
- Clifton Robinson (Lex XI) enquired as to whether the registered players list could be done via e-mail? Darren confirmed that this was fine providing it is done before the player plays a match.
- Mike Duckett (Caerhun) pointed out that Caerhun beat St. David’s College 5-0 and not 4-1 as stated on the website. Darren advised him that this would be amended now he has finally received their score card!
