The meeting was opened by the Chair, Colin Proffitt, welcoming the League’s new President John Roberts. The President accepted the welcome and said that he was privileged to be asked to take the role of President and wished everyone all the best for the coming season. He stated that he was there to help in any way he could and that contact could be made with him via Colin Proffitt or Darren Dentith.
Minutes Of Previous Meeting – were read and approved. Proposed – Stuart Grant, Seconded – Geoff Hawley.
Matters Arising – there were no matters arising.
Chair’s Report – Colin commented on how pleased he was to see another excellent turn out to the meeting (17 reps and Committee members). As the season hasn’t yet commenced there was nothing further to report except a reminder that all players must be registered with the League Secretary prior to playing in a match.
Treasurer’s Report – Elaine reported that £290.36 had been brought forward from last season. Seven clubs had paid their membership fees at the last meeting which had given enough money to pay for the insurance. Current amount £114.46. Elaine said that only 11 teams had paid their membership to date and that teams must pay prior to the start of the season.
Secretary’s Report – the Fixture Booklet was issued to all reps – one booklet per team. Darren requested that everyone check the details and advise him if there are any problems or errors.
Result cards were also issued with a reminder that all teams are required to send completed cards to Darren, even if results have been e-mailed to him.
It was reported that Llandudno had withdrawn from the League due to lack of having a Secretary/someone willing to run the team. A result of this is that Llandrillo College/Mochdre CC Round 1 match is now effectively a second round Robertson Cup match.
Rydal had requested a change of date for their match against Rhos Fynach Taverners due to their ground not being available (MCC match). The Committee agreed that this was acceptable and that it was up to Rydal and Rhos Fynach to re-arrange the date.
There was some discussion of what constitutes a ‘Status Player’ and the description as per 2006 League booklet was reviewed. The Committee agreed that this definition should remain. There was a further discussion around an Australian player playing for Abergele. Committee agreed that it was ok for him to play as a non-status player.
Any Other Business
- Conwy Celts requested change of date for match against Penrhyn Arms on 30th May as the pitch would not be available due to Conwy CC day match. Committee agreed that the 2 clubs re-arrange this match.
- Clifton Robinson (Lex XI) confirmed that as per request from previous Committee meeting, the 2 matches had been re-arranged for his team (7th June and 28th June).
- John Barrett (Penrhyn Arms) said that some weeks his team may struggle for umpires. He was advised that there was a list of umpires in the front of the League booklet and that he could contact Darren if he had any problems.
- Dilwyn Roberts (Bryn-Y-Neuadd) confirmed that if ‘home’ teams don’t have access to their own ground then they may have to pay a hire fee to use the ‘away’ teams pitch. This was confirmed as usual practice.
- Darren confirmed the first weeks matches with club reps.
